Explore the Arthur Sholts Memorial Forest to enjoy the quiet of a Sunday morning in the forest. Enjoy some solitude and fellowship with your neighbors while walking the hiking trails and birding. This is birding at its best in Oregon. Generally the trails are considered to be an easy to moderate route.

Participants will gather at the 914 Union Road parking lot before starting the hike.

Event limited to 15 people on a first come, first served basis.

Up! Up! And away with winter, and let’s celebrate spring.

Set your calendars and get ready to bring your friends and family of all ages and abilities to Anderson Farm County Park, 914 Union Rd, Oregon, on Sunday May 5 from 1-3 p.m. to fly a kite.

Whether you bring a box kite, compound kite, delta kite or one that looks like a dragon – it’s a kite that can dance across the sky in the cool spring breeze.

You say you don’t have a kite? Well, no worries, the first 200 people can receive a kite for free. If you have problems flying a kite or want to learn more about flying kites, Wisconsin Kiters will be on hand to help.

The event is sponsored by the Oregon-Brooklyn Optimists Club, Dane County Parks, Anderson Park Friends, Oregon Area Wellness Coalition and Wisconsin Kiters.

Join Us! Help Dane County Park's Department (DCP) natural areas staff and APF volunteers continue restoration work at Anderson Farm County Park’s forests and prairies.

Work is seasonal and dependent on the weather and conditions. From November through March we work on forest restoration activities. Activities from April through October include the food pantry garden, forest restoration, and native/flower beds.

Any inclement weather decisions are made at the park (914 Union Road), just before the start time. Dress for the weather and wet/dry conditions.

APF will provide orientations and all equipment.

Native plants and restored forests promote biodiversity and stewardship of our natural heritage.

We develop custom community service projects with businesses, churches, and organizations.
