Arbor Day April 24th 2015 at Anderson Park
Hosted by the Andersons Friends group and Arbor Systems
We will have 5 educational stations, and a Kids climb towards the end of the day.as well as a nature walk for the kids that don't care to climb. The teachers can split up the classes into 5 groups prior to arriving at the park. We should have 14 - 15 in each group. The stations will be numbered 1 to 5. The groups will rotate through each station.
Educational Stations:
What's an Arborist? Professional Arborist will show their tools and explain their trade.
Tree identification. We will teach the kids many ways to identify trees
Count the rings. The kids will learn to count the rings in some tree cookies.
Tree Utilization. The kids will come up multiple ways the we utilize trees. Note: The class that comes up with the most ways to utilize trees will take home the tree cookies.
Roots, Soil, Mulch and More. We will teach the kids how trees grow.
Kids will arrive at the Main street entrees around 9:30. If Roe can meet them and make way through the woods to the Union road entrees. We will have the education stations set up ready to go. They will be marked 1 to 5. Have the groups ready to go to there first station and continue to the next 4.
The first education start at 9:40. they will run for 20 min. and we will allow 5 minutes to shuffle from station to station.
9:40 - 10:05 - 10:30 - 10:55 - 11:20. Then lunch. After Lunch we will have multiple climbing saddles set up for the kids to take turns to climb a large white oak. We also will have a nature walk for the kids to explore the park. We will end around 1:30
