Anderson Farm County Park in Oregon, WIAPF Work Event
This is the annual spring Scout Community Service project at Anderson Farm County Park. Scouts and family members from Troops 68, 150 and 750 will be working in the forest or prairie.
Work is seasonal and dependent on the weather and conditions. Any inclement weather decisions are made at the park (914 Union Road), just before the start time. Dress for the weather and wet/dry conditions.
APF will provide orientations and all equipment.

It’s no secret that spending time in nature is good for your mind. Studies show that even a stroll through a city park decreases stress, sharpens concentration and improves long-term mental health outcomes.
You can get these park benefits at Anderson Farm County Park. Want to get more benefits? Join the APF Birdwatching event in the Arthur Sholts Memorial Forest and Prairie. This special event is held when there is limited foilage on the trees. Bring your binoculars. Don't have any? No problem. Binoculars will be provided upon request. Registration is limited to 15 people. Register today.

She had extensive experience guide birdwatching tours for the Aldo Leopold Center, Monona WI.Added Note" A few studies suggest there might be something especially healthy about birds in particular. 2023 Arbor Day Event
Our annual Arbor Day event will feature 5 education sessions about trees and the care of forests, followed by a tree climbing event in the picnic area.
This year, 6th grade students in the Oregon School District will visit the park and participate in the event.
This event is a partnership between Anderson Park Friends, Dane County Parks, and Arbor Systems. -

2023 Candlelight Hike and Bonfire
After having to cancel the event in 2022 due to weather, we are excited to host this event again this year.
The annual event is a community favorite. Over 750 people attended this fun, family, event, in 2021.The event includes a variety of activities.
A 3/4 mile hiking trail through the Arthur Sholts Memorial Woods and Prairie will be lit with tiki torches and luminaries.
A bonfire is located in the Sholts picnic area. Limited snacks and beverages are available at no cost.The event is co-sponsored with the Oregon Area Wellness Coalition. We partner with local organizations as well. The local boy and girl scout troops provide volunteer help with set-up and clean-up. Sponsorships are available to local businesses.
